And I step the steps.
Today I was walking down from Galata to Karakoy. A road that I take very regularly. These wrecked down areas are the places already hip or soon becoming. If you walk this way you can spot nice churches that have this unique building style. That style that lets them appear to be much more massive than they really are. Or maybe they are just massive. Another one in this style is in Taksim hidden in a side-road. But on the Istiklal, this very center of Istanbul, the worn out buildings start to vanish, replaced by a stubborn generic style. I am all for renovation and modernizing things, because antiquity in itself has no value. But if the soul, the inner meaning, the inner logic of the architecture is lost, then it is the tragedy of a state that tires out of this system. Turning back at night to the next ferry to be able to go home to Asia you can spot strange buildings. Strange buildings and Tophane, which has a cute appearance, totally lacking the original purpose and therefore just representing its lost power in cuteness.
Fast down the alley
To the right the road, she turns
These smiles are silent.
